- Cowgirl
With father's day around the corner, Cowgirl asked me to write a guest post about some possible gift ideas. I guess she figured with the way I obsessively research after deciding I want something, I might have some good thoughts. So here are a few things that I have that I really like. I linked everything to its direct product page but you can find most of it on Amazon.
Bon-aire Hose Attachment
Few people put much thought into hose attachments. I do. Some things I was thinking about when trying to pick out the perfect attachment...
- I want this thing to last forever.
- Variable settings.
- It has to shoot water really hard.
- I don't want to have to keep a trigger pressed if I want to shoot water for a long time.
- I want to be able to day dream that I am saving a family from a burning building because my hose attachment closely mirrors the one that's on a real firetruck hose.
I love this radio. Cool retro styling. 5:1 gear ratio analog tuning dial so you can really hone in on a station. The FM antenna uses some of the same technology that cell phones use to get great reception. I have a Terk Advantage AM radio antenna paired with it so I can catch sportstalk radio in my office. And it has an AUX port on the back so I can connect my iPhone.
I rely on Cooks Illustrated for a lot of our kitchen stuff. I know. How 1999. We actually have a subscription to a magazine. It comes every other month and it's like Christmas morning on the days we get one. Whether it's recipes, recommendations for small kitchen appliances, or tools like this knife, they always have good information. I'm big on getting bang for my buck and this ~$40 knife rated up there with some of the much more expensive ones. Victorinox are the same people that make Swiss Army Knives.
A rare impluse purchase. We saw these while browsing in Williams-Sonoma one day and I had to have them. Look how organized. A different color for each food group. Poultry, bread, veggies, and beef each have their own board. Say goodbye to cross contamination! Almost as thin as paper and fit easily in the dishwasher.
My neighbor introduced me to this thing. It's good to put in your bathroom. It has a little receiver that goes outside so you know the temperature inside and out. And the clock syncs to the atomic clock so you know it's exactly right and you never have to set it. I cannot express the joy it brings me to know my clock is EXACTLY right.
I work in an office all day and I have to remember to stay hydrated. The best way I've found is to have a water bottle that I like using. The spout on this thing is awesome. A joy to drink out of. It's stainless steel so it doesn't have any of that BPA stuff. And it's smooth on the inside so it's easy to clean. After cleaning baby bottles for a while (more complicated that cleaning firearms) I came to the revelation that they make brushes to clean the inside of grown up bottles too. Why didn't I think of that sooner?
Does your husband play video games? If he does you probably don't like it and wouldn't want to do anything to encourage him. But it's father's day after all so you should spoil him. Get him these and he can play his games with dolby surround sound goodness. The best thing is you nor your sleeping kids have to hear any of it.

These are great ideas, obviously well thought out. My husband is way into hose attachments, as well, and he was excited all weekend about how awesome his new one is, which is just like the one in this post. Great post, Cowboy!
