Four-Legged Vacation Friends

The resort at Lost Pines is home to more than our aquatic adventures; in fact, this guy greets you in the lobby.

Meet Hoss. I want a Hoss. He's huge, even larger than he looks in the photo, and we were told he's only 5 years old, but he was the laziest son of a gun dog I've ever seen. Minus all of that fur, that's my kind of dog. Lie there and let the children love on you. Perfect.

Other than the horses for the trail and wagon rides and ponies for the little ones, these are the only other animals (I think) on the grounds. Apparently there are activity times set up for a sort of "petting zoo" but there was none scheduled during our stay.

But we were able to say hello to Julius and Caesar. Do I love their names? Yes, why yes, I do.

There were also llamas

and donkeys

 and toddlers, oh my!

I, of course, did what any normal person would do and gave my best hey-look-there-are-small-animals pose when The Sheriff wasn't feeling it.

We also walked through a Butterfly Garden but passed on the Hummingbird Meadow but came out picture-less. You won't mind though, when you see the next gems!

We had a "meet and greet" with two legitimate Texas longhorns, y'all! Say hello to Ribeye (and his friend Tbone not pictured). After learning about the different horn styles, the time came for embracing our inner cowboys/girl.

You've already seen me in my glory. After putting W on, our cowgirl guide was so sweet to encourage me to get on. I wasn't planning on it, but what fun memories!

Here are a couple of the boys doing their cowboy thing.

Not only did they encourage the hat, but the arm gesture as well by telling the guys that's how the cowboys do it.  If there are any genuine cowboys reading, tell me you don't throw one arm up in the air while sitting on a stationary animal.

There, that's better.

I think we'll leave the longhorns behind, but if Hoss needed a good home, well, we wouldn't turn down the offer.

*I was in no way compensated for this post.

if W loved all of those animals- you guys definitely need to come to Louisiana and go to the Global Wildlife Center - he can feed giraffes and stuff! it's so fun!
