Elf Chronicles -- Year 1, Week 1

December 1, 2012

Team L introduced the Elf of the Shelf with a "North Pole Breakfast" courtesy of powdered donuts purchased with a few last minute necessities for a baby shower I co-hosted the night before. Santa's little scout elf, as he calls himself, left a marshmallow trail to the table where a tiny assortment of sugar awaited. It wasn't much, but someone enjoyed marshmallows and m&ms for breakfast which was winning in his book.

We suggested name after name to which The Sheriff replied, "No." His only suggestion was "Santa," and while I wanted to acknowledge his participation, that just doesn't really work. The elf isn't Santa. It was almost time to leave the table when he mentioned "Texan," a random idea I threw out earlier, so Texan it is!

December 2, 2012

There is no elf picture. Texan found himself swinging from the ceiling in one of The Sheriff's airplanes. The Sheriff was not a fan. Tears flowed (a warning we should have taken to try a different Mass time than 9:00). Texan had found a new spot for the day before we returned back inside from Church.

December 3, 2012

The Sheriff remains unimpressed with Texan. We are placing him pretty high this year as I'm pretty sure tiny toddler fingers will be all over Santa's red-clad helper. It wasn't until after lunch that W took interest in what Texan had spelled with his blocks.

December 4, 2012

Texan is spending lots of time trying to convince The Sheriff that he isn't really all that bad and has no intentions of taking his toy airplanes. This one was a hit! Who wouldn't love a Frosty cup to practice (unsuccessfully) learning to spit?

December 5, 2012

Texans isn't totally original (shocker!) and borrowed this donut idea from Rich, the elf over at Shannon's house. I made them the night before but The Sheriff sampled these elf-sized snacks at each meal. Stale-much! He requested them again and even asked Texan to bring them by once more, so in keeping everything light this year, I think miniature donuts will reappear.

December 6, 2012

Texan lost some of his mojo and found himself in the Christmas Tree hanging out for the day, an act that wasn't quite picture worthy.

December 7, 2012

I put J in charge of elf ideas, a request to which he responded by sending me a facebook page full. Come on, J, have you seen what these people on Pinterest do?
No, YOU pick the idea silly! And carry out!

Anyway, he did assist Texan in a little crayon sketch. Apparently I fell asleep on the couch before he added " Elf Force One" because I didn't see it until this morning and was cracking up.

I think Texan is growing on our little guy. He just needs to stay out of his aircraft!
