September Slow Down

Honestly, I wish the month of September would just pass already. October 1 would mean confirmation at another doctor's appointment, hopefully a burst of cooler weather, a step into the holiday season which of course means decorating, food, and seeing family.

This feeling isn't just a whim, but in fact would affect my daily life if I didn't confront it, slap it around, and tell it that it's not going to steal my NOW.

I began this post thinking I'd make a list of what I would accomplish in September instead of wishing for next month. I thought I'd plan creative ways to spend my time and make memories, to play and learn with our son, to connect with friends, to check "stuff" off the list. While each of these is valuable and enriching in its own right, instead, maybe this month is a gift.

September is my gift, not to do, make, plan, and accomplish, but to simply be.
September is for taking life as it comes and allowing moments to create themselves.
September is for slowing down and savoring.

So we'll sing more silly songs, play trains a little bit longer, dance more often, and walk around the house flying helicopters like there's no tomorrow (or at least no laundry to fold or dinner to prepare)!

That's a great quote and one we could all benefit from.

Wonderful reminder to be grateful and just live each day as the gift that it is.
